Biodegradable plastic decomposes naturally when exposed for a period in the environment. The degradation is the action of microorganisms which metabolize and breakdown the structure of biodegradable plastic. The result is believed to be less harmful to the environment than the traditional plastics.
With the growing menace of ever increasing use of plastics and the environment damage it causes on account of its stability the biodegradable plastics seems to be an obvious alternative.
